I've been running backwards and forwards trying to buy a boat.

turns out the likeliest candidate was .... Let me quote from the survey here.

"Has deterioration of the hull in the form of blistering due to osmosis, and probably hydrolysis, this is likely to have been developing for some time, and the amount found is beyond amateur repairs" coupled with a bit of "spend 4 - 5 grand with no guarantees that it will sort the problem out"

The vendor decided that he couldn't meet me 1/2 way on the repair costs, so I'm on the hunt again.

Gutted!

on the flip side, I'm in Tewkesbury, and Sharpness this weekend looking at a pair of Seamaster 27s.

Eww - doesn't sound so good!

Which boats are you looking at i may know them from up and down the river.
Not the most stress free experience buying anything really is it.

Natolie at Tewkesbury, and Dorella at Purton on the Sharpness.

And no, it's no fun at all, i thought it would be.

Don't know natolie, but have seen Dorella around for a number of years on the river. Nice boat.

When you log onto a site, or forum you want to read new posts. As most people only read, instead of write, that is why canalworld is such a popular forum, it has loads of members, with a few who post.

However it does have to be civilized. After looking at this forum, Dawncraft of course and John's BoatsandCanals.......well it won, simply because people post.

If you look several times a day, and there are no posts, you tend not to bother. Yes most posts may be frivolous, however there are new posts to read.

I suppose if we knew the answer to this i.e. how to be popular well, we'd all be celebrities (if that's what you want) and rich.

However, just for today, I'll do my bit.

Sawley seem to have taken over from Redhill as "Boat Scrapyard"
There was a Norman 27 there last year which looked very good apart from the fact it was steadily sinking, a member of the norman forum had a survey on it thinking it was just the outdrive leaking, turned out to have a major crack in the hull and was beyond economic repair.

Good luck with your search Fuzzy

I'm really not quite sure what are meaning by this?

I have not seen any thing 'uncivilised' here

At the end of the day, i can't make all the posts!! it would make everything look a bit dull! and me look big headed!!

I'm not after celebrity status!

Thought you might understand, I was being careful and trying not to name 'an'other forum.

If you can just get a core group to post, and make the posts fun, then it'll be successful.

Anyway (being flippant now0 you've got Al and me......what more do you want
