Big sod that is! A bit daunting first time through I bet!
Cromwell is the biggest I've been through, but the deepest is Holme lock on the Trent, I detest it when its windy as the wind whistles straight down it, making it almost impossible (for me) to get in square, always end up sideways!! :oops:

Biggest drawback for ocean lock is when they bring you the bill :(

Oo, thats as much as your petrol costs from Sawley to York!

Still, as its operated by ABP, to whom we don't normally subscribe to, I suppose its an experience. :roll:

Only the river severn locks for me, not exactly huge! but large compared to the Avon locks.

I passed this on the way up the Ouse .

It was interesting passing over its wash in my 18 :roll:

Eastham lock on the Manchester Ship Canal and have also been through Ocean lock at Goole. They only used to charge if you went through "out of Hours" I went through with another boat and so the charge was half each 17 shillings from memory in the mid seventies. CKP
