My husband went down to our moorings on Wednesday to do a service on another boat and do some work to Soul Muzik, On arrival he finds 3 hooded Youths sat on both boats (as they are double moored at the moment) fishing, he asks them what they think they are doing sat on the boats and, gets a rude reply, Hubby suggests that they will get wet shortly as he is going to be washing the boats soon.
He comes back after doing the service and does the work needed and leaves at 5pm.
9am the next day (Thursday) we have a phone call to say that Soul Muzik has sunk...

We now have to wait and see if she was vandalised or hit by another boat.
Another boat had his water filler cap taken, and a recovered boat from july floods had its steering wheel taken.

Very depressing.

Very sorry to hear about your boat.

Don't know how we'd feel if something like that happened to us.

We had the boat lifted Yesterday, Very interesting to watch but also very upsetting.

My hubby had a quick look in the engine bay as all the flooring had floated up and the water inlet hose had been ripped off. complete with the jubillee clips.

Very sad

But doesn't sound like the work of your run of the mill Hoodies ?
More like the work of another boater who knows the consequence of removing said hose .
Are the Police investigating this incident ?

Hoodies would more likely as not just set you adrift, break windows etc

I see on one of your photo's a "For Sale" sign
Had anyone strange been to see your boat ?

It all seems very strange to me .

Anyway sorry about your loss and I hope your Insurance company is coming up with the goods.

it was for sale with a broker, but after all the floodings he had run out of mooring space and asked us if we could have her on the side of our current boat untill sorted, as the broker is just across the river on the mill stream. so there have lots of people viewing.
Police arent interested. not evidence and all finger prints destroyed after divers have been on her.

Also the ropes had been partly cut.

So it doubtful that we will ever find out who it was, but hopefully we never see any kids sat on boats again.

As i doubt any of the other moorers will be very sympathetic and some of them are much bigger and less tolerant than we were.

just got to hope the insurance will pay out well.

Hopefully some one might buy her as a rebuild.. i dont; know what happend when boats are written off as her hull is sound and in very good condition. Just internally she need refitting.

My sympathies Selena, it's frustrating, soul destroying and un-nerving when this sort of thing happens, I read the replies you received on 'another' forum, some of which were not in the slightest way helpful Confused

However, don't be too disheartened. You mentioned that the engine may need to be replaced. Very often, all thats needed with a marine engine is a good clean, maybe a stripdown if its been underwater for any length of time (has it?) and a complete dry out. Is it a diesel or petrol?
Unfortunately the interior will need replacing, but not necessarily the woodwork, unless, again, it was underwater for any length of time.
I know it all seems hopeless, but it may not be as bad as you at first think. I hope it isn't, and I hope the insurance comes across for you.

Had a look at your pics, and I must say from what you've said, it does sound like it was done by someone who knew exactly what to do!!

the insurance are quoting to refit the interior back to bare hull and also to get engine running again.

Well we came to an agreement on Sould Muzik today.
We have had a pay out and also have the boat.
So if any one knows of someone who is wanting a good project boat - open to offers!
