First Trent Falls Video

Taken on my mobile
This was taken at the point where the Trent meets the Ouse
Apex (Trent Falls)

The " Oh my God" bit was when a wave hit me sideways on for the first time
it got quite choppy after that and I was unable to film or take pictures for about twenty mins
All was ok though ,Tetra took it all in her stride it was just a bit unnerving at first.
Don't forget Tetra is only 18ft long, narrow beam with a 10hp outboard.
and I was on my own :o

That would just confuse me totally, i wouldn't know where to go.

It's surprised me how big Trent falls are.

You seemed to be going quite fast?

Hi Adam
Yes there is certainly a lot of water at Trent falls
I was equipped with a GPS and used with the charts for the area Navigation was a piece of cake
I was pushing against the tide going down the Trent (I was 2 hours late leaving Keadby(one of my complaints :( ))
and was only making 3 to 4 mph once on the Ouse the tide was behind me (beside me at first) I made about 8mph
would have been quicker but the wind was brisk and blowing straight down the Ouse which picked up the water into about 2-3ft waves  which is pretty scary when your not used to it.
Once you realize that your not going to sink or flip over its pretty fun :D
Fun that is till a container ship (yes SHIP) passes you coming the other way ?
All I can say is passing over its wake is an interesting experience.

Leaving Keadby Lock behind

The lock entrance is just in front of the bow of the ship

The white building on the dockside is the new Lock control tower.

Its not a banner , they have painted it on the wall.
when coasters are there its pretty hard to spot the lock.

I didn't see that either. I was more concentrating on getting into the lock on a narrowboat that had cut out not long ago

Wow, Keadby looks almost friendly now. The picture taken 'from the canal' is on the road bridge norrit? It looks so different.

I got the same impression. Of the three pubs there we couldn't find one, one was shut and the one nearest the moorings looked a bit delapdated. Out of intrest whats the machines just downstream of the lock do?
