We had one exactly the same profile as that one on our moorings, but she has been sold on a number of times since.

Dorella is looking nice, fingers x'ed for the survey.

I assume you'll be shipping her back from Venezuela (rather than cruising her over). Assuming that is the Orinoco, behind her, of course.

Survey's tomorrow.

Due to it being short notice, and me not being very well, I've not found a way to pay the lift fees, so I'm going down so I get the survey results on the day.

Hopefully this can be done and dusted by next weekend.

The Surveyor phoned me today

He's done the hull part of the survey, and tells me the hull is in good condition with little to no signs of blistering.

he mentioned there being signs of repair, but seems happy that these have been done well.

mositure readings were a bit on the high side, but not frighteningly so. I put this down to the fact that she's been in the water for 2 seasons solid, and intend to store her ashore this coming winter loaded with dehumidifiers.

So I decided to go ahead with the purchase ahead of the rest of the survey, fairly happy that she's a good boat. I know I'm chancing my arm a little, but if the hull's ok, then everything else is candy coating.

Now the panic has set in......

when I rang the shipyard to get a weight for transport the guy there said "so you're buying her then" nothing more, nothing less, in my mind I now have him knowing something I don't and the boat being a complete dog.

I've also got the whole sale being an elaborate scam, and the boat disappearing as soon as the cheque clears.

I 've been living with an OCD sufferer for too long.

i dont think the surveyor would give you a good report if it was a bad egg.

also what else could the chap at the yard say, "so you are buying her then" seems reasonable to me.

pull yourself together and pay up and enjoy your new boat :lol: :lol:

Tomorrow at 12:00 Title for Dorella passes from the current owner to me.

There are some Jobs to do on the boat, but none that I wasn't expecting. these are

1. change 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch gas pipe, and make sure it's all supported correctly. Also add a bubble tester. scrap old coolbox in cockpit.

2. The electrics are not good, she needs her system tidying up, and modernising, so all new circuit breakers, waterproof switches, and new cabling. as well as some small BSS jobs (like strapping the batteries down) Also some natty charging improvements, and a 240 volt system.

3. secure engine fuel hoses, and put chafe protection round water hoses etc.

4. Seal round exhaust pipe as it comes out just above the waterline. Can anyone say Milliput? Later I'm going to get a new exhaust made up, and route it a foot higher. (not sure how this will affect the installation of a bathing platfom, but that's a future job)

5. Renew exhaust brackets.

5. Some cosmetics to the hull GRP.

My CORGI dude, and My electrician are raring to get started, and it looks like an additional £500 - £700 will get her completely rewired (i'm paying the electrician in beer), and new gas piping run from stern to stem. As well as some quite tasty upgrades.
